Honda ct 110 postie bike5/10/2023 Stayed the night in the Taroom council caravan park (FREE!) which I have stayed in a few times, nice place. Yup, you saw it here first folks, slow as a wet weak!!! But oh so much fun! The Ks done for a day! But wait, you will see how huge that amount of Ks is when you see my average speed!! This is at the top of the town with a little lookout. Made it into Taroom with some daylight to spare. I love these two pics, coming down the road, it just looked like a MASSIVE jump!! Nearly there, shadows getting longer now. Some very rutted out roads from the recent rain, some of which was still very boggy. Like the one I was living in during my stint in Murgon (I am a primary school teacher) ![]() About 250 odd Ks of dirt road/track in any direction to get to a town. The postie now looking like a well worn adventure bike, getting closer to Taroom.īeautiful Grass Trees and surroundings, I love the country out this way.Ī school, ponk smack bang in the middle of no-where. It was fingers crossed that the little girl would handle the abuse of these washed out, sometimes sandy, sometimes muddy roads! Some nice rock formations on the way out towards Proston.įinally hitting some more dirt and with 300 odd Ks of this to go, it had me a bit worried. Stopped in a Hivesville for the last top up of fuel, the had the same bloody fuel containers there for sale and for friggin $12 each!!! Oh well. Better buy a 5L container.About $30 later I walked out very unhappy but with 5L of extra fuel range. Through Murgon with a stop for fuel, check the sure if I have the range for fuel. It was a rather steep range though and with a fully loaded, underpowered postie, it was slow going up, first gear mostly at about 15kph YUP TRUCK!!!! They didnt seem to mind me though, I got right off the road and they just waved. Up and over the range where the trucks were likely to be coming. Rode on through the back roads of Gallangowan, which ended up being a logging truck road, oh well, I had it all planned on the GPS, no turning back now. The rig!! You can see my setup here, pannier racks, GPS, dirt tyres and heavy duty tubes, etc. This was after about 10mins of riding!Īnother break to try and thaw the hands out a bit, heading out towards Kandanga. Well, it was about 2 minutes into the ride, I realised that my motocross gloves do not cut it in the winter time!!! My hands were in such pain I had to stop. Had to push the little beast out from the house before starting it to not wake the kids, BLOODY HELL!!! How can something so small weigh so much? I did my best to pack as light as possible, oh well. ![]() Woke early and geared up, didn't think it felt that cold, but had my winter liners in pants and jacket. Here is the ride planned for the first day out to Taroom, Qld.Ĭlose up for those who might know the area, ended up being a fantastic ride. I have tried to get out there a number of times but different things have held me back. The plan was to do a ride that another member on here (JNF68) had suggested for me a year or so ago. Well, with the Hardcore Postie ride not lining up with my holidays, I thought the purchase of my Postie better not go to waste, so I continued my "adventurising" project and ended up with a nice little setup.
